this is a common question but I can't seem to find the answers. The DVR does not have a firewire port and it has copyright protection, so I cannot copy to a DVD recorder using the component cable. Is there a hardware/software combo unit out there that would allow me to copy my recorded programs via some kind of converter into my laptop?|||take the yellow, white, and red wire from the back and connect it to the tristar dvr. it might work. i use it allot to do this. read here it might be what you are looking for:
